This podcast has become a way of life for many especially because of its suspenseful and mystery based stories, which often changes the course of society by making people want to solve the murder themselves. One story that was told from another point of view was from an eyewitness that helped get justice for a crime that happened in 1969 and has been unsolved ever since. The story is about a man, named James Rackley Brown, which was told in the beginning episode demonstrated how he was murdered. The men in Brown's family always had people to blame when it came to this unsolved murder. Brown went to the store on the night of his death, but never came back. At first, when he didn't come back home, his family thought he was at work in town. The next day they called in at the store where they found out that he had quit his job that day. They then saw him at another store in town where he would usually go for lunch every Thursday before going home to his family. The next day they called him into the store to let him know that his family was very worried about him; he had not come back home the night before. The Store Manager said that he last saw Brown around 2:30 P.M. on October 20th, 1959, which is the day he disappeared after leaving on time at 11:30 A.M. This story not only shows how the Brown family blamed others for their own murder; it also makes you think about how easily even great people can be killed without any kind of justice on their behalf. The story also makes you think about how is it you can lose track of someone for so long without anyone noticing they are gone. Another interesting aspect is how this story reflects on the age of technology and society at that time. Brown's family had no idea he was murdered until five years later, when they became part of the first generation to be able to use a phone. With the advent of cell phones, if someone goes missing tomorrow, people will become involved with the police immediately because people will be notified that there is a missing person. At the time, when Brown disappeared, people were not as involved in technology and if they didn't know their way around town, they would not know to call the police and report a missing person. Serial podcast took that story and made everyone think about it in a different way; giving the Brown family hope that one day they will be able to see justice for Brown. It made people take a step back and look at how far we have come in this amazing society today. The podcast serial is very important because it bring many questions to light. The idea behind serial is very intriguing because of the potential for new breakthroughs.
